Add a Windows firewall exception
A "Firewall" may be blocking Intermediaries Online from connecting to the Internet and submitting mortgage applications to HBOS. If you are experiencing a problem with submitting applications and a firewall message is displayed at the sign in stage, you should:
- Establish if the computer is connected to the Internet by attempting to browse the internet (this will demonstrate if it’s a general problem with your Internet connection). If the connection to the internet is available then please check if your computer has any firewall software installed.
Please Note: As each brand of firewall is configured differently The Intermediaries Sales Support Helpdesk can only provide general guidance in configuring a firewall, for detailed instructions you should contact your Firewall vendor's support service.
Configuring Windows Firewall
Any version of Windows released after Windows XP Service Pack 2 will have a Windows firewall as a standard feature. It is always advisable to configure a "Firewall" as switching it off would leave your system exposed.
Please contact your IT Administrator if you are unable to configure your firewall due to IT restrictions.
- Click Start followed by Control Panel

- From Control Panel open Security Center.

- From the Security Center, click Windows Firewall.

- On the Exceptions tab if HBOSMortgaes.exe is not listed and ticked windows won't allow Intermediary Online access to the internet, to configure the windows firewall click Add Program.

- In the Add a Program dialog box, click Browse.

- In the Browse dialog box you may need to change the location at the "Look In" dropdown to the application install folder, by default this would be "C:\Program Files\Intermediary Mortgages".
After locating HBOSMortgages, highlight and select Open.

- At the Add Program box, HBOSMortgages.exe should now appear to be selected, click OK.

- HBOSMortgages.exe should now appear ticked in the Exceptions list, click OK.

Your Windows Firewall is now configured to allow Intermediaries Online to communicate with HBOS servers over the Internet.
